    men's v women's kilt proportions?

We who follow kilts etc on Ebay know how common it is for women's skirts to be listed as men's kilts.

I was reading this listing of what appears to be a man's kilt but the measurements gave me pause.

Is it common for men to have such a difference between waist and hips? I know it's not the 12" difference of the classic 36-24-36 thing

It's not common, maybe, but 32/40 fits me well. I need about 2 more inches in length than the kilt for sale, though.

Can't say if it's a skirt or kilt but those are my exact kilt measurements.

I have a 7" difference and with a little more exercise it could go up to 8", so it's not impossible, just unusual. I say that with confidence as the only jeans I've ever been able to wear comfortably have been women's jeans and I find it almost impossible to get men's work trousers that I can wear all day with any degree of comfort. Fortunately, I no longer have to bother.
If you are going to do it, do it in a kilt!

A guy in good shape with a trim waist (and 31" is pretty trim) will have a waist/hip differential like the one in the kilt for sale, particularly if he is in good shape as well and has strong glutes.

Thanks you all! Good to know.

I was imagining a skinny guy with a big bubblebutt... and realized that I'd never seen a guy built like that.

The worst people to try to fit are athletes. I have had iron man athletes with a 7 - 9 and 10 inch difference between hip and waist.
And many of these really fit guys have thighs that are larger than their hips but in the front. So the whole apron sort of bulges out at the thighs.

In general I have found that very fit women will have a smaller hip to waist ration than very fit men.
