In my case there was none of that, as I was marrying into a large Catholic family, and we got married in the local parish church, as Catholics do. (None of this "beach wedding" or "scuba diving wedding" or so forth.)

That was my case exactly. It was understood by all from the get-go that I (and many of the attendees) would be kilted.
