I can see why the 1790 coat (pictured late in the article) would be a good for drawing a bow. There is ample room in the sleeves and chest area for movement. The colors of the tartan would work also for woods or brush shooting.
The other outfits shown and described are adorned with great pizzaz. Could this be archery had become a hobby instead of necessary activity of the upper gentry?
Thanks for the article link Luke, as it brings this subject back to the concentration of kilts and off the weapon.

I have and shoot both a longbow and a Hoyt recurve bow.

Sorry guys ,, I would have posted in a general section if there had been one as ,, yes its off topic for kilts but I just thought id share something of my love of archery and see if anyone else shared the same passion for the sport.
I wont make that mistake again.
