I don't see a problem with a utility kilt or casual kilt without socks or hose. I frequently wear my AmeriKilt with docksiders (no socks) or with flipflops.
Disclaimer re the flipflops: I live at the beach.
My wife likes the casual look - and her opinion and mine and the opinions I care about.

Agreed. There are days where I just can't deal with heavy, hot boots and thick socks when I've already got 6 yards of fabric hanging on my hips making me warmer than I'd like. It's either barefoot, Tevas, or Vibrams on days like that. I do think sandals and such look a little odd with a kilt but it's a small price to pay for comfort.

And there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. I was just describing my opinion. I too wear my kilt without hose, but not outside the house (where anyone would notice). By the same token I don't wear any kind of socks with shorts either (in fact I never wear socks at all unless I am kilted or am wearing my cowboy boots). But remember this is all just my opinion and I never judge anyone else on my opinion.

If I could go barefoot everywhere I'd be the happiest person on earth. Since I can't, Vibrams are a pretty decent second choice.

What is not inconclusive, however, is my intense dislike of wearing shoes.
