I am so sorry to hear this news. I had the opportunity to meet Sandy on several occasions and I always felt better for having had the chance to talk to him. The last time I saw him he came into the motorcycle shop where I work to get snaps for a decrepit old helmet he was fixing up so he could ride his scooter. I knew he'd been sick for a while but his outlook was always positive. He said he'd already lasted many months longer than than the doctors told him he could and he said he planned on being around for a long time yet because he hadn't used up his handicap parking permit and he wasn't about to let it go to waste.

Victoria, please know that Gina and I have been keeping you in our prayers and will continue to do so.

The comments offered, make every one of you more important to me. I did not meet this particular man but feel I got to know him as well as some of you (my friends) through XMarks. All are dear and any that pass will be missed greatly.

I had the opportunity to attend Sandy's Funeral on Saturday. It was a very comforting service. The Priest talked of Sandy's support and inspiration and how he was led by Sandy to travel to Scotland and research his own Scottish roots. One of Sandy's friends gave the eulogy including some poetry that Sandy loved. In The eulogy he remarked on Sandy's maritime experience in both the Navy and Merchant Marine, which was certainly born out by the number of men in uniform. There were, of course, also quite a few men in kilts. There was a moving musical prelude with a harp and two fiddles and an excellent piper for a postlude. Following the service there was a reception that looked fabulous but unfortunately I had to return to work and couldn't attend. I wish I had been able to share my condolences personally with Victoria but she was understandably surrounded by family and friends.
