I do not believe that the photos are reversed. I took the photos with my Galaxy S4 Sunday evening and then reduced the size for insertion. So, it is possible that the pleats are in reverse. I was not there when Mom made it and I have not looked that closely at the direction of the pleats. I can try to post the full size image of the back, plus I can look this evening after I get home.
I have the full size image up on the other monitor at 100% and as I look at it the pleats go inward to the right. If you take your left hand with the fingers pointing to the right you can insert it into the the pleats. Does this answer your question?
