A Double First
I recently joined the St. Andrew's Society of Bradford and had a wonderful first Burn's Night Supper with them this Saturday past. A first meal with the society and a first in my Gunn kilt (in ancient colours) that I finished making in January.
Probably a "faux par" wearing Scott Ancient Tartan hose with my Gunn but hey-ho I think they blend quite well and I hope most people won't notice the difference as they contain the same mix of blue, green and red stripe?

I don't think anyone would notice the difference in the colours between the kilt and hose. You both look great and very appropriate for the evening, I hope you had a great time.

Thanks... I thought the same about the hose... and yes, we had a wonderful evening. I managed to learn a couple of new Scotish dances too. The friendly waltz and the eightsome reel. Although the word learnt might be the wrong word to use when it came to the eightsome reel.... but I'd did try lol

Sean,
"Ancient Scot" is just the trade title that House of Cheviot uses for that particular design of Argyll hose that they market. That's different than Argyll hose that is made specifically for the "Scott Clan (green/hunting) tartan" in the ancient color scheme. These hose are designed to work with any tartan that is mainly blue and green with a red overstripe in the ancient color scheme. In the case of the Gunn tartan they are a perfect match. You look grand!

Now that makes sense... I did wonder as I did buy them from the House of Cheviot

Exactly so. No faux pas there. I too have, on occasion, worn that pattern of hose with my MacLeod of Harris tartan.
Smart turnout by the way, well done.
