Worth the Trip, BIG crowds, suggest getting reservations ASAP. You can find hotels in the area.

Thanks for the heads-up, for bringing these Games to this Californian's attention.

I did some reading about these Games, which suggested that these are the same Games I attended in 1984. As best I can recall they were called the "Alexandria Highland Games" then.

Though in California I annually visit Games within striking distance of West Virginia and for sure I'll consider it next year.

I'm a Pipe Band enthusiast and according to the EUSPBA site there were 5 bands there last year. What attracts me to Games is a strong Pipe Band competition.

Yes, these are the same games that use to be held in the field behind an Alexandria High School. The games grew so large, they could not support the paying public and parking became a large issue. The main sponsor is the St. Andrews Society of DC, who has been running I believe since the start. There is a great number of Clan Tests, and we especially like Vendor Row. So many activities going on, and it great to see so many wearing kilts in all sizes and forms. My wife and I just love to attend this event, and support it. I just hope the weather is not a factor, as so many in the DC area look forward to this time.

Another event is the Scottish Walk in Alexandria, VA usually held the second Saturday of December. Many pipe bands show up for this event, and ALL of Old Towne Alexandria becomes Scotland for the day. Check this out too, again sponsored by the St. Andrews Society of DC. '

Washington DC area, especially Alexandria is very active with Scottish events, so you have a lot going on all year. CHEERS.
