    Of Kilts and Horses

A casual Friday. Decent enough weather for a long sleeve button down with brown leather. Some of my Regimental Mounted Troop folks around for their Friday public awareness vedette.

(I have to remember to close that dang sporran flap after I take the phone/camera out of it)

Taskr, seeing as you are in Edmonton and they are sitting on horses, am I right to assume LdSH? I can't quite see the cap badge well enough.

yes, they are. LdSH(RC); The Strathcona’s

for the others curious; Lord Strathcona and Mount Royal (driver of the last spike of the trans Canada railway) raised the Regiment for service in South Africa in 1900. Full title, Lord Strantcona’s Horse (Royal Canadians).

MacDonald Ranald (ancient) today with a blue/grey crew pullover and black sporran/wingtip boots. A cold, sunny snow covered, kilted Friday

Donald Smith (Lord Strathcona) was also married to Isabella Sophia Hardisty and was the Uncle of Lady Isabella Lougheed, wife of Senator Sir James Lougheed. I volunteer Sundays as a docent and tour guide at their Calgary mansion. Occasionally I am kilted but mostly in circa 1910 costume.

Kilted Tuesday, AKA worst selfie ever.

Popped down to the VAH to go over neuropsych results. A few charming compliments ensued, as well as the usual questions about affiliation. VA is as good a place as any to smilingly respond that the army is the closest thing this old Swedish-Welsh-American has to a clan.

My speech therapist was perhaps the most startled. "What's that you've got on?!"

    "Socks."

Lewis hose in ancient blue, FTR, though my arm wasn't long enough to include them in the shot. Still need to find a page buckle that I like, and snap it onto that old work belt for casual wear.

    Cheers,

    Jack

    Kilted at work.... finally!

I've not been able to wear my kilt for a long while, due to putting on far too many pounds. However, after 3 long long months of strict dieting, I'm back down to the right weight and girth to permit me to strap on my kilt once again. So, considering that my current workplace has no qualms about me wearing my kilt to work, I "celebrated" my dieting success by wearing my kilt to work. And, luckily for me, it was very well received by many of my colleagues and supervisors. So this shouldn't be the last time I wear my kilt to work!
