Be wary of using Paypal for passing money between friends in Europe and friends in USA.
I used Paypal to send money to an xmarker and Paypal sat on the money for several weeks while they carried out their own investigation (or "review" as they called it) as to whether it was a suspicious transaction.
I have found Western Union to be much quicker with no questions asked.
