Update
I finally got my sporran sling in from Craigie today. Bad marks for greatly delayed shipping without giving me a call or email to explain to me why it's going to be a couple weeks later than promised.
Basically I got two leather straps with snap closures to hang on the belt, integrated rings in the snaps for a chain to snap to, a jewel chain, and some cheapo snaps.
I messed around with the chain and ultimately discarded it.
The sporran now hangs directly from the straps, using only the cheapo snaps to attach the rings on the straps to the rings on my Buzz Kidder sporran.
First observation is I need a belt that cinches down tighter. The belt I'm using tightens well enough for just holding the kilt up by itself, but the weight of a loaded sporran is a different matter. If I move in a way that sucks my gut in like stretching, my kilt drops forcefully in the front from the weight. This was expected.
I think the sporran is hanging a bit high even without use of the chain. I don't see how this can be easily fixed and is probably more a shortcoming of the attachment points on the sporran being too high.
Hanging from the sling straps, the sporran does rock forward and back much more noticeably than it did with the full chain around my circumference. On the upside, when I sit down, no adjustments needed for modesty; the sporran naturally rests right where it needs to and covers everything up nicely.
No more pooching! This is the primary objective of course.
I just need to get a slightly smaller belt or punch another hole or two in the belt I have to see if that holds up better.
I don't think it was worth $28.50 (shipped) for what I got.
