This is what is interesting to me, because I've never worn or handled Marton Mills PV kilting cloth.

I know that to me there's a big difference between the way 13oz wool and 16oz wool feels, and I much prefer the latter.

I would definitely have to agree about the weights,I put on the 16oz. Black Watch yesterday but it was uncomfortably warm so I changed to the 13oz muted Gunn instead, everybody thinks its Irish anyhow so it fit right in for St.Patrick's day. It was only 71° too, so I'm thinking about trying the semi traditional model in PV but have heard its not really cooler than wool because it doesn't breath. I do have the PV in the casual model however and it seems like it is cooler but less breathable.It's much thinner than 13oz. wool and also has no lining,but its very tightly woven if that's the right word for it. I think it's possible that the PV may feel warmer in humid conditions.
