Thursday:
In the Morning Sten Rune and I took the pictures you can see in my Gallery of us playing in the snow. We had so much fun that I forgot I had to go to the physio for some treatment. I didn’t bother to change and went as I was in my Bear kilt.
I’ve had several conversations with my physio about kilts and Scotland. As he has the Wright name in his family and can trace his family back to two brothers that took part in the Gunpowder plot. No one seemed to notice I had a klit on …But more about this later.
Well this was also the night of My first Cally Meeting in Oslo.I got dressed in my Moderen Gunn 8 yard trad Tank.I took the train into Oslo. I was met at the Door by David Wylie and we stood chatting as the others arrived .I think there was well over 40 in all including a gentleman of 92 who had, in June received a medal of Honour from the French President under the D-day celebrations. Amazing how full of life he was.
Colin had said that I would be the only one kilted . I wasn’t Norman had on his Henderson and David his Ancient Gunn. It was nice to get a 1st hand look at a possible new kilt.
After a good meal there was a talk given about the challenges ahead for the Scottish and Norwegian Oil industry. It was interseting but a little above my interests. However there were lots of oil industry types there so they enjoyed it. All in all a good night with uncommomly cheap drinking prices for Norway. I got home a little drunk at about 1am. A good day really.
Friday:
I had to og to a board meeting at work (Employee rep) Today was special we were opening a new production hall. No mean feat in Norway at this time, as a lot seem to be flagging out at the moment.
I attened the meeting in Trousers (Sorry lads). In the Evening there was a party to celebrate so out came the Bear once more and a great time was had.I get a bit of a hard time from some of the guys at work but it’s usually good natured stuff and Hey ! the girls like it. I left early because of the night before, and because I had a job to do tommorrow.
Saturday
Dawned with another 24 ”inches of snow and I had to get myself and the kids to the local town to stand on the tea stand, and sell cakes, and the like to Cooing old ladies. They liked the Bear kilt very much. One lady asked me where I was from in Scotland . I’d made her day as she was from Edinburgh and hadn’t seen a kilt for some time. That was nice. I had to admit to her that I just loved the kilt and was in fact of Irish decent.
Then after four hours it was home and a Change to my 8 yard Moderen Gunn and out with the wife to her Choirs 25th anniversary dinner. I have posted I pick of me together with one of the Choir members and his wife together with me in my Gallery. They are wearing ”Bunad” which is used on special occassions . Goes nicly with the kilt I thought. Got home late.
Sunday:
I took Patrick to the Concert he was singing in and I took my Daughter to an Irish Dance Rehersal. I then went back to listen to My son sing and after all that we all camr home absolutly wacked out.
Ps. My wife was lucky she was working all weekendand I had to do all the running around . Still I got to wear my kilts a lot and that was a big help…
.
BTW. I mentioned the Physio earlier. I said that no one noticed .That wasn’t true. The Receptionist asked the physio who ”That Nutter was” he told her that I had worn it for him and that I was far from a nutter and that he was thinking of buying one….I rest my case
