here is a tip an old army buddy told me.may not work for your barges

rub vaseline on the inside of the boot,
twist it about a bit to work it in.
then place in a warm place.
you can also try lanolin, this comes in a liquid form
 and a cream.
he also told me about a big footed regiment, the enemy was scared to death of them, when they got shot they never fell over, due to having enourmos feet.

P.S. wetting the leather could also bugger em up.

The key to comfortable boots, other than the correct size and boot quality, is socks.
One should always buy boots of a size large enough to commodate at least one pair of boot/hiking socks. Peferably, one should wear two pairs of socks, a thin pair next to the foot and a thicker pair next to the boot. If you are wearing them in cold weather (Saskatchewan winter), you may want three pairs of socks or thicker socks (boots need to be large enough).

No cotton socks. Wool IS the best. Good wool socks are not itchy and not hot. Good socks are worth their weight in gold.

Also, be kind to your leather. It was an animal skin. There are numorous treatments and they should be applied on a frequent regular basis. The ones that are rubbed in are usually better.

If you have new boots give them some time to learn to fit your feet.

I have hiked/walked may kilometres and the only time I have had a problem was when I didn't follow the advise I just gave.
