I have one kilt where I wear on it a clan crest badge normally used on a bonnet.
It looks great!
However it isn't as large as those badges often are.
And it is one that my friend in the Clan MacNicol personally made and then had produced so it is both more detailed and in a nice darker pewter finish than the average mass produced clan crest badge.
So all I can really say, is...
It depends on the badge, the kilt, and what you like personally.
