I guess I was asking where else you could wear a Sgain. Like if you didn't wear the hose

My thought? You couldn't. Sorry.

Rlail,
Here are some options for you...
Sgain
In your kilt hose
In your sporran
On your sporran if you adapt it to hold the sgian underneath or on the side
In any other garment that has a pocket that will fit it
Pocket Knife
I will sometimes wear a folding knife in my kilt hose instead of a traditional sgian
In your sporran
On your sporran if it has pocket clip
In any other garment that has a pocket that will fit it
You have flexibility if you want to use it.

My Kilt and Sporran are enroute; that's kind of what I was thinking, that I'd find a way to attach a sheath to my blade of choice

Some may scream heretic, but I carry a leatherman-type multi tool in my hose, excluding formal events. I typically have it with me daily, kilt or trousers. I find it is more practical and easier to keep in place than a Sgain Dubh; and it doesn't poke through my hose like the sgain does.
The shear convenience of being accessible without fumbling through sporran or pockets is great.
If wearing scrunched socks or going on long hikes, then I would place it in my sporran to ensure it is not lost.

I will do the same with a folder or SAK in my hose.

Why would you even think of that? It's simply not culturally correct. Now I understand that culture is constantly changing, but for me, I would be much more likely to not wear a knife in my hose than to not wear hose. The knife being worn there being a relatively new fashion trend in the overarching timeline of Highland fashion.
I say this next bit with some trepidation. I am not trying to be a kilt kop, but there are just some ideas and practices that are all the result of people who did not grow up in Highland Culture, and think they can just pick and choose the parts they like and discard the rest. I find it disrespectful. No one can really stop you from doing anything you want, but no one has to force anyone else to applaud your decisions either.
Mull this over, think about what are your motivations for doing what your doing. I hope you come around to following tradition, respecting the cultural dress of, well I would hope the dress of your ancestors.........

^^^Definetly! I don't plan on using hose and Brogan's for casual wear, more like boots. The Sgain is just a knife, no different than a boot dagger, really. No disrespect meant, I was just going for function
