    Looking at the jacket again I discovered that there are a series of buttons on the inside of the sleeve which would have been for jabot style lace cuffs, hence the sleeve length. That sort of Levee style is dated and not to my taste so I don't plan to go down that route. cut of the jacket aside, it's really the buttons that are of interest for me as the maker, J. R. Gault & Son, whilst well known as a button manufacturer, did not usually made civilian ones, let alone in silver. So a rare find indeed.
