Yea, it is sort of odd. The length of the Fell Area, and where the bottom of the Fell Area fits your body, is perhaps more important to a good looking kilt than the waist height or where the selvedge hits the knee.
But is very seldom mentioned. Very few measuring instructions mention it. Few kilt retailers even know about it. Most kiltmaking books or instructions do not explain the importance of it.
It's sort of like the Steeking line. Super important but seldom mentioned.
