I ran into an old workmate/pal named Ingo. Ingo has a very intelligent, logical, scientific mind. In a group conversation we once had about the way flounder's eyes move across their heads, Ingo stated flatly, "ontology recapitulates phylogeny," then grinned at the silence.

We were talking at the bus stop when a man approached and asked if I wasn't cold. I told him, "not at all."
