Ron,
I just found your post on your NS family rellies. Thanks for the tidbit. It's like wading through molasses trying to find genealogy information sometimes. Our French (shhhh) side just turned up some folks from Ireland from the not too distant past. We had no clue on that one!
I am going to pass this info on to my dad and see what he can drum up. He would like to talk to you further on the subject but is a little mystified by the whole forum thing. If I send you his email via private message do you think you could contact him? He's having such a blast, even with the dead ends.
Thanks again!
Patty.

Welcomes galore
Hi all and thanks for the newest welcomes.
Hi Barb. I love all the photos. It's nice to have some idea of the lady behind all the emails! I've been on kilting hiatus for the last 6 months or so. No one knows me around here so of course they aren't going to switch their business to someone they don't know. I'm cool with that but it would have been nice to have something to do before I started working out of the house! I've been working on family kilts and that's pretty much it. Don't be surprised if you get the occasional email from me now that I've taken on this new endeavour!
Patty.

Hi Patty
I'm sure you'll get plenty of business soon enough!
I haven't made many kilts in the last year, either, because I had two major eye surgeries last winter plus cataract surgery in both eyes last fall. Bleecchhh. Got behind in work and in piping, and I had to stop taking orders. But, now, all is good. Got a backlog of half a dozen kilts to do, and I'm enjoying being back in it again.
Thank god for modern medicine - I'd be blind now if it weren't for the surgeries, and that would be more than a minor bummer!
Cheers!
Barb

Hey Barb.
That's an awful lot of surgery! Has everything been fixed now or do you have to endure more? You are right though, thank everything for modern medicine. I would think it would be a complete bummer to be blind. I really like my sight. I use it frequently! Not knowing any different doesn't make it fair for me to slag blindness though. I'm so happy that all is well for you in that department and that you are able to be back at it.
I'm itching to get going and just a little daunted by the potential to become backlogged. It just means I bring kilts to my day job though. That ought to make for some interesting lunch breaks!
We'll talk more soon!
Patty.

Hi Patty
Fingers crossed, I'm done. I had an abnormal membrane that grew very rapidly over the central part of the retina of my right eye, making it impossible for me to focus and tearing a hole in the retina. The surgeons went in and carefully peeled the membrane off the retina. But, to heal the hole, they put a gas bubble in my eye that had to stay pressed up against the retina, so I had to keep my face down, pointed toward the floor 24 hours a day for two weeks (eating, sleeping, walking around) - it was tough. When that was over, I thought I was done, but the same thing happened a couple months later in my left eye. Repeat of the face-down thing. The surgery induces cataracts, so I had to have cataract surgery in both eyes last fall. But, all is good now. I do have my fingers crossed, though - the membrane grows back in about 5% of cases. I hope I'm not one of those!
Can't wait to see what you're doing for your next kilt!!
Cheers,
B

Hi Patty!
Welcome to the forum. I haven't been around here too much lately, so I've missed so many of the new members. Glad to have you here.
