Hi Patty
Fingers crossed, I'm done. I had an abnormal membrane that grew very rapidly over the central part of the retina of my right eye, making it impossible for me to focus and tearing a hole in the retina. The surgeons went in and carefully peeled the membrane off the retina. But, to heal the hole, they put a gas bubble in my eye that had to stay pressed up against the retina, so I had to keep my face down, pointed toward the floor 24 hours a day for two weeks (eating, sleeping, walking around) - it was tough. When that was over, I thought I was done, but the same thing happened a couple months later in my left eye. Repeat of the face-down thing. The surgery induces cataracts, so I had to have cataract surgery in both eyes last fall. But, all is good now. I do have my fingers crossed, though - the membrane grows back in about 5% of cases. I hope I'm not one of those!
Can't wait to see what you're doing for your next kilt!!
Cheers,
B
