Second, I want to figure out, as close as possible, which clan is my heritage and perhaps visit the area from which they come. I have a geneology from a deceased Aunt that was finished in the 1980's, that I can refer to to start. But, I'd like to see if I can go further and really nail down my heritage on my Father's side. My Mother is German, and their family is from the Alsace. I have visited my family's roots in France and Germany and have found we come from a former German Royal under Charlemagne. What I have not done yet, and what I will attempt in July is to see the place from which my Father's side comes from. I have learned that my family is a splinter of the Davidson Clan and it appears they are derived from the Chattan Clan. So I guess the Davidson's are also affiliated with the MacPherson Clan which splintered along with the MacKintosh Clan from the Chattan's. I read that all these clan's are linked to the Catti or Chattan's of Perth (1000 AD). It looks like the Davidson's can be traced back to Invernahaven (Badenoch).

I want to make sure this is accurate, and if so try and visit these locations, and perhaps historical sites of tying to them?

It looks like a very beautiful backdrop, and features a number of games and competitions. However, there is no easy way to get there. The best opportunity we currently have to get there, for this all day event, is to hire a private driver. But that is very costly. The train system looks effective half the way there, but the buses don't run when we need them to match up, so Public transportation is out.

So, I'm seeking an alternative way to get to Lochearnhead, and I am all ears to suggestions.

I have explored a number of ways already, and none make as much sense as the car hire. But I am hopeful we can find a group of other people also venturing out to Lochearnhead that we can share a ride with for the games. Such a ride, I think would enhance our experience.
I've rented cars whilst in Scotland and enjoyed the independence of having my own transport. The rates weren't ridiculous.

    Trip

I have traveled extensively and always rented cars. Its no problem to drive on the other side of the road except if you back out on to a road. The other thing is I kept turning on the wipers when I meant use turn my signals. But now I am too old to even rent a car. Hopefully you can still rent a car and enjoy your trip.

Yes, that was a fun part. Most smallish accidents happen getting out of the airport car park. Big ones seem to happen once the Yank gets complacent and - usually after 3 days. In a pressure situation the instinct is to steer right....

I had no problems whilst there. Getting back home I pulled out of a gas station and drove oil the wrong direction the after my return.
