That plaid is beautiful!
What comes to mind is this gent. Notice how both the plaid and kilt have the stripes along the selvedge.

In WWI the pipers of some battalions of The Tyneside Scottish wore Shepherds Check kilts and plaids, though without the selvedge stripes.
