    Help identifying this tartan

When my dad died 34 years ago he left me his kilt. I have worn it to family weddings but not for quite a few years. My son gets married here in the Scottish Highlands in July and we are all wearing our kilts. I realise that I have forgotten which tartan my kilt is. I have tried various web sites to identify it but can see nothing similar. Perhaps someone on this site can help.

It attached to the thread both times. To embed, you need to use the 'Insert Image' icon (second row, fourth group, third icon from the left). Click the icon, browse for the file location, then click on 'Upload image' below the 'Browse'.

To my inexpert eye, it looks like Stewart of Appin Hunting tartan, in 'ancient' colours.

Thanks for this. It does look like it is Stewart of Appin Hunting.

I was sure that there would be someone on this site whi would recognise it.

The colours are exceptionally soft and lovely, much nicer that the versions I've seen by the modern major weavers.

It is definitely Ancient Hunting Stuart of Appin. I have a kilt made of this; it was originally my grandfather's.
