I'm guessing the oldest tartan associated with the name is the one designed for the 79th Foot. Why does it resemble MacDonald?
What about Cameron of Lochiel?
The Allan Brothers one looks to be nothing more than their stock four-equal-stripe scheme done in green and red. I wonder if they borrowed the yellow line from Erracht.
Richard,
Not all of them but I have written about the Cameron of Lochiel and origins of the Erracht tartan.
