Hello, i haven't worn my kilt since i got it, part of the reason is that it's quite cheap (i was hoping to get a nice kilt for christmas, told friends and family that's all I wanted but my family don't view kilts as being practical and kilt culture sucks in my country, people are indoctrinated into thinking they are just wedding attire so i don't blame them, it's the same with our car culture too, they think i'm crazy for owning a full size car too) but i want to use NYE as an excuse to break out my kilt and my sporran, which seems like a good idea but how is kilt wearing on NYE by a Non-scotsman viewed? People didn't care when i last wore it but this time the context is a bit different, but I will be wearing something underneath.
I’d expect that the reaction would be much the same as when you wore it before. Barring a dress code I can’t see any reason for anyone to be upset about what you’d wear for the new year celebration assuming they wouldn’t be upset on any other day.
