    Outrageously overpriced Sgian Dubh

Oh this is amusing, a "Victorian" sgian for $450.

    https://www.ebay.com/itm/33607603589...102140.m167418

These were mass-produced in the 1960s and 1970s, plastic handles, EPNS mounts (nickel plated over base metal).

I have a 1978 catalogue in front of me that has them for $13.50. I know all about them, I bought one then from that very catalogue, it was my first sgian.

In '78, I bought that exact style to go with my first kilt since I was starting to compete and play gigs. And yes, I paid around $13 for it.

I have a stag handled sgian dubh that I bought in the late 1980s with a very similar etching. It says "J. NOWILL & SONS LTD" "SHEFFIELD Gr. BRITAIN" with "SKEAN-DHU" in the scroll.

I paid more than $13 for it (thinking mid-20s), but a lot less than $450. The eBay example has crisper detailing on the metal throat to the sheath than mine has.
