Kilt hose one only one leg?

    Background Information:

I've been wearing kilts for nearly 20 years. In January of 2025 I had my leg amputated. I want to continue wearing kilts as everyday clothing. As an American with Scottish roots I am currently wearing mostly utility style kilts, an American garment with Scottish roots. I wear my utility style kilts casually, Kilt, t-shirt, baseball cap, boots (reference profile pic)

    Question:
With winter coming up would it be odd looking to wear kilt hose and flashes/garter ties only on my non-amputated side. Not sure I can wear hose over my prosthetic, though I'm not against trying.

I am considering wearing accent color hose with kilt-matching flashes/ties. i.e. Green kilt, black hose, green flashes.

Thanks in advance for your advice.

It's been a long strange ride so far and I'm not even halfway home yet.

Sorry to hear of the loss. Hope tings are coming along as well as possible.

But I can't fathom anybody on our planet thinking anything is out of the ordinary when a guy with one leg wears only one sock...........

On the contrary, what else would you do ? It's a kilt - not shorts vs long pants.........

You clearly can’t wear hose on both legs, so wear what you can.

On the plus side, a pair of hose will last twice as long now before wearing out.

Captain Alexander Ramsay of Mar wearing hose on his prosthetic leg (he lost his leg during the war).

Don't overthink it, just do it, if that is what you choose to do.

When my brother had a prosthetic leg similar to Captain Ramsay's, he wore hose on both legs. Now that he has one more similar to yours, he only wears hose on the non-amputated side. You'll look good whatever you choose.
