My son Cameron competed in this event. There were about 60 competitors. He placed 3rd. I wore my McKenzie weathered. Unfortunately the pictures my wife took were completely whited out so you'll have to imagine me in my glory. I was the only kilted person there although several people talked to me about it and thought maybe they'd pick up the habit.
Cameron doing the overhead log press. 310 pounds for 3 reps tied for 2nd
Tire deadlift. He topped out at 695 pounds. He was disappointed as he had done 3 reps at 750 two weeks before but when it's not there it's not there. still tied for 3rd
This was the Medley, 800 pound yoke back and forth for 20 yards then pick up and carry a 300 pound sandbag back and forth then throw it over the yoke and finally the truck pull. Pull it walking backwards for 40 yards. Tied for second
The sand bag toss. 5 bags 35, 40, 45, 50, 55 toss them over a 15 foot bar. Cameron only got 4 bags. The pro in the group got all 5 but he was the only one. Most only got 2 or 3 bags. He tied for 3rd
lastly the stones. 5 stones starting at 350 pound lifted onto platforms starting at 6 feet. The weight then goes up ending at 550 pounds and the heights decrease ending at 4 feet. Cameron got 4 stones (this was the last he got 500 pounds) but as with everyone else (but one) gassed out on the 5th. He placed third.
