    Attention Pipers

To all my piping family the website piping press announced today that the Royal Regiment of Scotland just released their new piping book of tunes to celebrate their 20th anniversary of their founding. More info here https://pipingpress.com/

Oh, it says the book is going to contain the traditional tunes of all the antecedent regiments!

That's going to be a heck of a book!

Here's a recent video of the regiment. Very nice playing of some very familiar tunes. Closeups show G1 chanters.

    Very interesting.

    I'm seeing

4 pipers from 2SCOTS (Royal Highland Fusiliers)

8 pipers from 4SCOTS (The Highlanders)

and 2 pipers from 3SCOTS (The Black Watch).

Missing are 7SCOTS, assuming they still have a Pipes & Drums.

The pipes & drums of 5SCOTS was disbanded in 2013, that of 1SCOTS in 2021. How few remain!

Interesting about the chanters. For ages Shepherd seems to have supplied the military chanters. Now that Broadleys have revived the old Shepherd patterns we shall see what happens.
