I don't know if there is a wrong side for a dirk. I suppose it depends on what else you're carrying and how you intend to draw it. An off-hand weapon becomes a main-hand weapon if it's all you're carrying.

I'm sure organizations have rules about how members of their groups must wear them (E.G. military) but outside of that, I think it's fair game. Old photos show multiple carry positions have been used.

Yes the is a Harris tweed.

My system has been acting up lately.

Thanks for the fabric specifications. I followed the link and was AMAZED by how inexpensive genuine Harris Tweed can be (but then inferred that's what they charge to purchase LABELS(!!!)

I think I've found some fabric I can afford that will also pair nicely with Glen Affric (see my post in OCR's thread about photos of pipers vs. photos of people pretending to be pipers).

Unfortunately, I can't see any PMs from you here, nor have any appeared in my email inbox. I should tell you that I sent the photo of you "setting up shop" while wearing that lovely jacket to Ian Anderson at USA Kilts, and he recognized you instantly!

I believe they also will sell that material in a running length as well. They just add the labels as a side item based on how much fabric you order. What surprised me was that the upholstery
fabric is so much more affordable than the regular stuff. It is a little stiffer perhaps, but hard wearing and the hang of it is superb.

Oh my word, some of those tweeds on that website catch my breath. I’m feeling inspired to make a vest or three. (Anyone have a recommended pattern before I go scouring the web?)

    Phil's jacket is indeed gorgeous.

When last I visited Scotland, from a Montana zip code, I fully intended to shop for an Inverness Cape in Harris Tweed (but never saw one). Now, in Las Vegas, where the LOW early morning summer temps can begin rising from a nadir of 90°F, I think the only use I'd have for that would be when shopping, because NO place does air conditioning like Las Vegas!
