Have just received two very nice replies from officers of the Clan Donald USA apologizing for the insanity of one nutball.
One says quite clearly the man was very misinformed.
"I can only hope that the person who read you the riot act was just a member trying to show off their ignorance. There is not any tartan which is reserved just for Godfrey. I know this because I asked him, back in 1998, and he seemed somewhat confused, and amused as to why I asked. To say that is is as silly as to tell a man he cannot wear the Dress MacDonald because it is for women. It just means 'formal', but is not confined to evening."
