I should have read the other thread more carefully before posting this one.....
I have a black sporran from freelander, but have found that I could use a brown for day/more casual wear (The freelander is definitely nice enough for evening, IMHO).
You and I are probably in the same boat - money is an issue.
I bought a black leather sporran strap from Highland X-press for around 10.00, its pretty cheap (in more ways than one). It gets the job done, though.
So I am now playing that decision game - buy now or wait? I almost have the jones under control. If I could do leatherwork, I would just go to a horse tackle shop here and buy the strap and add the hardware myself.
The freelander straps are really nice. He puts a 'magic' braid into it - it is really nice, especially for the price.
I never wear a kilt belt, so the sporran hangers are out.
I too looked at Bear and Celtic Empire, and for the price I thought it was a darn good deal. Real quality stuff.
But $48 direct from BK for the Rob Roy - that's just mind-boggling.
I truly wish I had the funds to support everyone here. Everyone works hard and gives out such good advice - one day, one day......
