In honor of Tartan Day, I had my first "real" outing kilted. That is to say, I wasn't going to Ren Faire or a Celtic Fest or hiking. My only kilt (so far) is an Amerikilt traditional style that I wear when I go backpacking. I wore my tartan tie to work (Clan Hay Ancient), but for choir, I wore the kilt with a shirt I picked up in Portsmouth years ago when my sub pulled in (needed a shirt and tie for a function with the Royal Navy and had to quickly go out in town and get one) and my tartan tie with my heather cufflinks. Since its been hot today (for this time of year here) I wore leather sandals, but thought it looked pretty good. The choir was tickled, althought the soprano that sits next to me said I needed a fancier sporran (her maiden name is MacGregor, so go figure). Some good natured ribbing, but the director did say, "It takes a real man to dress like that". Overall, a fun positive experience.
