Yeah... That basting stitch, both of them, was a struggle.

Hey Mike, that's a GREAT follow-up to the other posts. I agree that those basting stitches are a real bugger to take out, but OH BABY it's worth having them to get those pleats for that price!!!

Apparently, anyone waiting for another tartan or solid will have to wait for quite a while. The Black Watch is THE kilt for now... until the program either takes-off or dies. At this rate with the reviews, I see it as a line that gonna run! That's GREAT! Thin and deep pleats, heavier material, three buckles, quality sewing, lined, tapered and for around a "fin"? Thanks SWK.

    Good feedback.

I have just spent the last half hour reading all of the posts on this thread. I own two UKs and one tank. I hardly ever wear the tank because at $600 I just don't want to wreck it. I have been looking foe an inexpensive yet traditionaly styled kilt that I can wear on an everyday basis.

I think that I have found it in th SW heavy but I have a question on how ir sits. In the pictures the heavy seems to fit up high like a tank not on the hips like a UK. Is this true? Basically I am looking for something that fits like my tank.

Secondly how do the standard and heavy kilts compare?

Economy Kilts... good for hanging in Volkswagen Bus windows. Period.

Standard Kilts... great for everyday wear and for looking a little nicer than a casual. Sits and hangs just like a traditional without the weight, wool, or expense. Basically a casual traditional.

Heavy Kilts... great for everyday wear and for looking nicer with better material. Sits and hangs just like a traditional but not wool. Again, it's a casual traditional that rides the waist, not the hips.

There's nothing better for the traditional look if you're on a budget and don't need it for a formal occasion.

    well,
I know i'm gonna get one eventually. I really am not a fan of the blackwatch tartan, I think it is WAY overused and (I know I'm gonna get a thousand bad remarks about this) overrated. I mean, it's not really THAT beautful of a tartan and to me it's terribly simple. I understand it's tradition and everything. guess that's why it so popular.
But I want a HumV and will buy one even if it is in black watch. I'd love to see it in black stewart... (hint, hint, that makes TWO people so far...)
    my two cents.
