Today I stopped in at the San Francisco Hector-Russel store to get my traditional Gordon altered. I've lost a good deal of weight since my wedding and I needed to have the straps moved a few inches.

I was a little nervous becoause I was wearing my new brown Workmans UK. I wasn't sure how the sales people at H-R would take it. I was imagining that there would be at least on snide comment about UKs not being true kilts, or how I was demeaning my heratige. Of course nothing like taht happened. The guys there asked me a few questions and we talked while they did the adjustments.

The consensus was that while UKs are not true kilts in the traditional sense they are well made, comfortable, and durable. Whats more you do not have to constantly worry about ripping or staining an expensive peice of clothing.

I left the store feeling that I have made good choices on both my kilts.
