Happy to be out of a kilt
What heresy is this?
Let me tell you what happened today....
I was leaving the signshop to work at a local high school. The job was to update a few honour boards mounted high on the walls of the school hall.
Knowing I'd be up a ladder, I timed the job for after school hours when no kids are around.
At the last minute I decided to wear shorts, but took a kilt to change into as soon as the job was done.
Boy, was I glad I did!!
I walked into the hall, ladder in hand to find the stage packed with teenage girls practicing their singing for an upcoming performance.
I was happy to be unkilted, just for once.
Soon after arriving a teacher from the school (who is also a pipe major) came from behind and said "where's your kilt?"
This was one rare moment when I feel a kilt would have been inappropriate, but back to the truck I immediately changed back into the kilt.
This was the second time in months that I have worn anything but a kilt. The first time was earlier this week, installing a sign outside a hospital. I was working with concrete and didn't want it on my kilt.
Even then, a man I'd never seen before walked past and said "where's ya kilt today?".
Guess, I am beginning to establish a reputation
