I like it. The only thing I've noticed, that hasn't been mentioned, is that on the http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum page, you don't appear to be logged in, but if you click the "Forums" link, you do.

I understand the changes etc, just letting you know, Hank And my apologies if it's been mentioned already.

HUH???!!??? I just got here. Like Graham said, the house has been redecorated and I'm a bit dis-oriented. But then again, we're still the same family no matter what color the room is, I'm sure I'll adjust, just let me catch my breath.

Wow! Hank, I thought I was seeing things when I logged in to "X Marks..." a short while ago to find everything has changed ....... I thought I had done something wrong or my computer was on the blink!

You have obviously done (and are doing) a lot of hard work to get things straightened out and, like so many others, I am grateful for your endeavours - although I suspect it will take me a long time to find my way around our new home.

Some things are not explained and, as a non-techie, I find that a little disconcerting. For example, I have never heard of phpBB, vB, .php files, etc., etc. and I am hoping such things will not concern me, but can you tell me why I am apparently "off the scale"? Also, I used to be billed uniquely as "Hamish the kilted legend" but now I am one of several "Elders"; have I been promoted?!!! By the way, I hope this is not an ageist category!!!!!!!!!!!

    Hi Hank,

Well, I don't know if you have done a bit of speedy tweaking in the past 30 minutes or so but, suddenly I find I am restored to my former title, and I am no longer "off the scale" but am "an unknown quantity"! What does THAT mean, pray? As far as I know, I have no secrets - I am like an open book!!!

This forum is a bit like life, always getting better! Now once I get to know my navigation better, watch out Bubba, and then look out Graham (he said with his worst Snidley Whiplash voice).

Bit different layout, eh, only took a few minutes to sort it out though. I see You've mentioned galleries and everything else elsewhere, so I'm happy as is then, so far I don't see any faults!

Boy...weird stuff...all the forums have these lock symbols on them...not sure what that means...have to log in to reply, every time the last couple days even though the thing to remember password is checked...avitar disappeared...gonna take a while for this old besotted brain to figure it out...think its a good thing to maybe lay down for a week or two and come back when its all fixed...

It seems that the default portal page isn't remembering whether or not you're logged in, but if you click the Forums link on the left side, it brings you to the forums as though you're logged in. That's how it's working for me anyway.

Ron, if you see a forum section with a lock symbol on it, then it means you are not logged in and that section requires that you log in to post.

If you need help getting that avatar back, go up to the top of the page and click on User CP then click on Edit Avatar, over in the left column of the next page. And you're in! ;)
