If a pre-school TV series called 'Balamory' ever gets as far as your part of the world, it is well worth watching. It was shot in Tobermory (Isle of Mull), and one of the main characters, Archie the inventor, always wears a kilt. I don't suppose there is a pre-school kid in Britain who does not know about Archie and his kilt. In fact I read that whenever young kids see a man in a kilt, they think it must be Archie. Perhaps it will lead to young boys wanting their own kilts to be like Archie. We can but hope.
