You do realize that Calgary residents can hit the internet and get many more tartans and custom-made kilts from a LOAD of sources for the same money? (Yes, that's just a nudge and wink).
I wish that stores would just order-up stock from BearKilts, USAKilts, PittsburghKilts, FreedomKilts, and the likes so that folks will see what's out there! The same old, same olds are getting tedious! BlackWatch and the Stewart tartans are nice... but SHEESH!!!
There is one large retailer that will be offering kilts in the very near future, but they will be a "specialty item" in their system. The tartan and pattern selections will be a breath of fresh air in the availability standpoint!

Not EVEN close. It won't happen for quite a few months, but it will happen. The quality and construction will be what we've come to want. They WILL be domestically made. They will NOT cut into the "made-to-order" or "made-to-fit" industry. They will NOT be some "novelty" item either. News later... much later.

Thanks for the information, Jimmy. I'll look forward to the event, and I hope that the manufacturer will be one of the fine kiltmakers we see here on a regular basis.

I can't speak for their kilts, but I've bought several things from that shop, and I've been pleased all around.

Oh, how I agree with you Jimmy! Those two tartans ARE nice but they have been SO over-exposed in the commercial world. However, if I wanted to look like a tin of Scottish shortbread biscuits then either of those tartans is what I'd be wearing!

I bought one today, blackwatch. The service was excellent and the price was right lol. They said they had sold 3 of them today alone. And asked if I was with one of the rugby clubs. I guess the guys are buying them for keeping warm when they aren't on the feild. If you don't like having your kilt lifted by drunks, that would be a crowd to avoid lol.
They told me they were wool but Al you said they are PV. How do I tell?

See if there are any loose fibres or cut a thread off on the fringe. Light the thread with a match or lighter. If it melts it's PV if it's wool it will stink.
