You are so right about rampant neo-puritanism pervading the USA. Ever since Tom Hanks won an Oscar for Philadelphia, it's been well-nigh impossible to see anything other than fundamentalist Christian images on TV. We have no programs like Queer Eye for the Straight Guy, Queer Eye for the Straight Girl, Queer as Folk, or The L Word. There are no 8-years-running sitcoms with gay main characters, and there are no gay supporting characters to be found in any American TV program. Any such show that might barely make it onto the air will be crushed by such ratings bonanzas as Revleations. It's just channel after channel of dour, jowly men wearing weird hats with buckles on them.
How fortunate that we have Canadian TV to enlighten us. We should all be grateful.
