Thanks guys for your input. Plain tie it will become, at least until I'm through the gate and I will take it off. Re the leather jacket ... we went last year to the ball (non kilted I'm afraid) and it is simply crazy student mayhem. On route we will call in for a beer in this little real ale pub in the city and I can assure you that it will be the same as last year, town will be full of students out for a pre drink drinks and the girls will be more blotto than the guys by 8pm before they even get there .. how they ever make there way and find the venue beats me, some could hardly stand up last year .. and it don't finish till 2am. We only spent an hour there last year, there was just too many people and loud music everywhere. Neither my wife or myself are 'squares', wev'e been on the road with our folk rock band for most of our live's, but its nice to go to the ball and sample a bit of 'atmo' then go back to a quieter pub. This year again the students have several artists performing in each of the marquees all evening long from boy and girl bands to solo artistes all top of the pops fame and headling in one of them is Tony Christie. So while it is a ball so to speak once your through the gate it is just loud and caotic. I actually love the proper kilt jackets etc but for some reason don't feel comfy in them. Crazy I know but I don't feel at ease. Never the less one day I SHALL buy one and adjust to it I'm sure ... I'll have to now since Ham's gonna tell me off at some point in the near future, no doubt when he comes over to stay with us before the end of the summer.
Thanks again guys
Derek
