Try not wearing them so high. I don't know if there's an international standard somewhere, but I think they should be tied a little above the ankle, not half-way up the shin like some people do. Twist a few times in the front, bring them around and twist a few times in the back, then bring them straight to the front and tie them. Pull the loops so they hang about as far as the tassels. I wear mine tied off to the side a little, directly under the flashes.

Thanks all. I just noticed the other similar topic just after posting mine. It pays to be observant.
More questions. When spraying your laces with hair spray, I'm assuming that it is after they are in place?
Good point about tying them lower on the leg.
Traditional Kilt hose? Well, yes with additional cuffs...
And as to the question of whether my legs are large or skinny, try to imagine cabers with shoes...
