Ok, since joining this forum, I've begun to consider making more use of my kilt.

HOWEVER, I worry about spills and such damaging my very expensive wool skirt. Has anyone used Scotchguard on a kilt? Does it help? Could it damage it?

Please share your experiences.

Assuming you are thinking about a regular kilt-they are in fact very hard to damage.

Mine are fed a regular diet of coffee-red wine-oil-and anything else that happens to be around.

An occasional trip to the dry cleaner for a proper press etc and clean-seems to keep then in good condition.

I guess that when I am kilted I am a little bit more careful as to my manners LOL, but I have done some spot cleaning, and that seems to come out OK.

Jimmy, I think, had a way in which he cleaned his kilts without taking it to the dry cleaners. Either I dreamed that or I am mistaken, as I cannot find it.

There's currently a thread running by Hank about "Dry Cleaning". Rather than post it again... slide on over there. Glen, you can wake-up now... it was just a nightmare.

I thought about the "ScotchGuard" route on my latest kilt, but was perplexed on whether I needed to treat the outside or the inside. For now, I'll just drink less at the gigs and see if that helps.
