Shay has asked a good question. If you are not part of the wedding party AND don't have to have a particular tartan, it may be a lot easier to get a kilt. Many places will give your order priority if you need it for a special event. All you can do is contact some of the suppliers and see what they will do for you.

Get in the Yellow Pages, and rent one. Or most formal wear rental places can advise you where to rent one. Most Kilt rental places can outfit you to outshine the groom if that is your choice. And if you are lucky and the Tarrtan is common you may be able to find "your" Tartan.

Get that thing on-order NOW, so that you're "covered". You really don't want to go to a knowledgable crowd like that wearing anything but the "real deal". A nice, tight wool kilt that's handmade and authentic will make you even MORE comfortable in that crowd. Festivals and dinners are okay for other kilts.

IF you're truly fortunate, you MAY be able to acquire this same kilt for a "song". Here in Philadelphia, I have a local store that sells authentic handsewn kilts that have been "rented". You can actually get them for less than others!!! That's what's called a "no-brainer". I'll fork-over $250 (usd) for a wool, authentic, hand-sewn-by-a-master-kiltmaker kilt over anything else in a heartbeat!

I'll PM you with the information too.

Sav, buddy, you've been PM'd.

If you get a chance to head in to the shop, make sure to allot about 1/2 hour minimum. You'll see Highland Regalia and kilts that will make you drool. I suggest that you take along a tartan bib.:-D

If you're REALLY lucky, a kilt will be sewn behind the front desk while you're there. It's a thing of beauty to watch a true artisan at work. The only machine within reach of the kiltmaker is the cash register.

My local kilt shop doesn't even have a cash register - they use a calculator and write in pen on a carbon sales slip. The arthritic lady behind the counter is often sewing a kilt.

I love kilt shops.

Excellent, thanks for the recommendations! To clarify, I'm not in the party myself. And I'm located in Buffalo NY. The wedding's in Gettysburg, speaking of pennsylvania...anyhoo, gonna check out some of these links!
