I'd go with the R-kilt in leather. His leather and craftmanship are superb.
The other thing is his attention to detail for size. He makes the kilts for you, it's not off the rack.

I've see too many i'll fitting kilts from others (too long, flare up at the back and just not sized right) and when you spend that kind of money, get one made for you not just people around your size. Everyone body shape is different and you can't get the proper fit unless it's made for your shape. I swear some people don't know how to measure or they just don't care as long as you buy it.

Robert cares about his kilt and will suit you up right.

D@mn the bunch of you!! *grinning*

It seems that becoming a member of this forum has the potential to seriously affect my bank balance!!!

I've been thinking about a leather kilt for several years, now. There's a local leather store (which goes by the rather imaginative name "The Leather Store") where they manufacture off-the-rack AND custom leather clothing. While they appeal largely to the biker and wannabe-biker crowd, I've had a couple of interesting conversations about the possibility of a custom-made leather kilt. Details are slowly being worked out. . .

I'm curious, on the leather kilts available from the various sources, as to the nature and number of pleats. While I don't want anything like a modified "gladiator" kilt in leather, I'm wondering about the weight and degree of comfort. Does anyone (Hamish, you seem the most experienced in this respect) here who wears leather kilts have a preference as to pleating arrangement, and if so, if you'd please add a bit of an explanation as to why?

    Thanks,
    Mac
