Even though the rules are pretty much "oot the windae" anymore, if your wedding is before 4 pm, a nice day jacket, shirt and tie will suffice.

The Jabot and lace cuffs probably should be left for full formal attire, such as the Sheriffmuir or Montrose jackets -- they just don't look "right" with the Prince Charlie to me, but hey -- to each his own.

And remember with black tie, a winged tux shirt is not necessary -- a simple "stand and fall" collar is better with black tie, and much more comfortable.

I really wish you wouldn't make such blanket statements like this, Dreadbelly. Ties may not be your thing, but please remember that there are those on this board who do like how they look, myself included. You are entitled to your opinion, just as I am mine. Instead of saying, "ties...just look stupid", how about "ties...aren't my thing." That way you are not implying that those of us who wear ties "look stupid".
