I've been watching this thread to see what the more knowledgeable folk have to say about it. I've been having similar thoughts myself Ron, so I'm very interested in what folks like Matt or Barb T. and the other kiltmakers might have to say.
Reckon it would get more views if posted in the kiltmaker forum?

Starch?
**Hisses and shies away**
Ok seriously, doesn't that eventually break down and destroy the fabric?

Oh you say the same thing about combs and brushes! :-P
Truthfully I don't know if starch will eventually cause fabric to break down. I do know that it will eventually yellow white shirts causing them to need a good bleaching to get white again, and bleach is not good for fabric over the long haul.

It does cause break down, well it always did my cammies. but I still got 3 1/2 years out of them. I don't own a soild kilt (yet) but if/when I do I will be all about starching it. I would use Sta-flo liquid starch, maybe 1 part warter to 1 part starch. that will make it real crisp but not positive that it will cure the curl eventualy.
