I was able to get him an Amerikilt based on his jeans size- and I'll be making him a casual kilt as soon as the twill comes in so I'll have his measurements handy. I have little money tucked away, so I'm thinking this would make a nice Christmas present, since I know the tartan he wants.
I just wanted your opinion on whether getting someone a traditional kilt as a surprise is a good or bad idea.
Definitely go for the kilt. Maybe it will help make up for the lederhosen.
