Alpaca Wool Kilt?

Yeah the Material is soft Like Cashmere but as sturdy as sheep wool.
They had a few Alpaca herders at the CO state fair and I checked out some of the knitt type stuff they offered, I have not had much luck looking on Google but maybe I will run across something. From what I understand wearing it is not itchy either. So it may be a great choice for a Nice heavy wool kilt.

If so it may be worth a try, but I'm sure I could not do it. I would have to send it off to a pro or somebody that was up to the challenge.

Would be nice if there was a place to go to see it in person. Wonder what happens when its cut, might be a loose weave that wouldn't work. If it is tight and would hold when cut, my suggestion is to talk to Kathy Lare down in Albuquerque...she's trained to do hand sewn traditional kilts, but I'm sure she'd wanna look at the cloth too. www.kathyskilts.com

this has got me thinking Ron, what do ya think about an old Military issue green wool blanket? And maybe figure out a way to get the "US" Centered on the front apron. I don't know just an idea being the talk about the blanket thing.

I've toyed with that idea also Miah. It may be a little scratchy but I've never felt a wool kilt so it may not be much different.

I got a plaid alpaca wool blanket for christmas last year.Last week I ordered The Art of Kiltmaking.Now this thread pops up.Things are looking very interesting on the kilt front. :-D
